Trap music, a sound that's dominating the current soundscape, has powerful roots in the Southern United States. While its origins can be traced back to the 1980s, it was in the mid-1990s that trap truly emerged. Drawing from the sounds of hip-hop, gangsta rap, and synth music, early trap emphasized dark, gritty beats with simple melodies. The style
